St Joseph's School Hastings was established in 1889 by the Sisters of St Joseph of Nazareth. 

St Joseph's is a Catholic Full Primary School committed to providing a quality education for students from New Entrant to Year 8. 

We are located in the Heart of Hastings, on 404 Eastbourne Street East.


Useful Information:

  • In 2025 we reached a roll of over 300 students.
  • We are a multicultural school with 16 different ethnicities.
  • Our classes go from New Entrant to Year 8
  • In 2026 there will be 12 classrooms, along with a library, school hall, administration block, playground areas for juniors and seniors
  • We have 25 staff members
  • We have a supportive team of Teacher Aides, who support students with English as a Second Language, and those with learning difficulties.
  • We have an onsite 23m swimming pool, which is utilised fully during the summer terms with daily swimming.
  • Our Afterschool Care is accredited as an Oscar Programme.
  • We have four houses - Bethlehem, Galilee, Jerusalem, Nazareth.


The Parent Information Booklet provides information on our people, associated learning opportunities and daily school practices.  It's difficult to cover every activity and eventuality that occurs at school.  So if you need further information or clarification then please ring the school office and we will do our best to answer your questions.

10.30am   Morning Tea

10.50am   Session 2 starts

12.30pm   Lunchtime

1.20pm   Session 3 starts

2.50pm   School ends for the day
